Welcome back to another post. Today we will be talking about our scenes more in depth. Including the different shots we will be using.

Scene 1 begins with Gabo dreaming of the moment he tore his ACL and wakes up.

Scene 1 starts off with an opening aerial shot from the top showing Gabo’s room, there will be a desk with physical therapy ACL exercises, a window with natural low-key lighting and a soccer themed room.

Aerial shot

Scene 1 should take less than 30 seconds.

Scene 2 begins with either Gabo making eggs or Gabo serving himself some cereal.

During Scene 2 Gabo’s face drops as he gets a phone call or voicemail from his doctor who says he may never be able to play soccer again.

mid shot

Scene 2 should take from 30-45 seconds.

Scene 3 takes place in Gabo’s room as he is angry.

Gabo wrecks the room in Scene 3 as he bangs his head against the wall and clears his desk out of anger, also starts hitting a box in which he sees a medal come out of.

After the wreckage caused in Scene 3, time stops as Gabo remembers his glory days when he was fit to play soccer and scored a lot of goals.

over the shoulder shot

This scene should also take 30-45 seconds.

Scene 4 begins with a flashback to when Gabo was 10 and he dribbles through a couple of people and scores.

In Scene 4, after the goal, Gabo gets rewarded with the same medal he found in the wreckage by the mayor.

After this, Scene 4 ends with Gabo’s mom knocking on his door asking if he’s okay.

Storyboard

Hi, welcome back to another blog post we will be talking about our storyboard!

Scene 1 (30 seconds) Establishing shot

Gabo had a dream of him playing for the biggest club in the world and in the last minute he tears his acl and they lose the game. He wakes up in shock and feels pain in his knee and realizes he has a brace on. Then he remembers he tore his ACL in last night's game.

Scene 2 (30 seconds) mid shot

Gabo struggles to get out of bed by he eventually makes his way to the kitchen grabs a pan and turns on the stove to make eggs. While his eggs are cooking, he gets a phone call from his therapist. He answers the phone, and they start to conversate, and his therapist says I have some bad news. Gabo gets all scared and nervous and says tell me the bad news. His therapist says, I'm sorry Gabo but I don't think you will ever be able to play again.” Gabo gulped and just stood there and took in the sentence and tried to understand it.

Scene 3 (30 second) over the shoulder shot

Gabo finishes making his eggs, puts in on his plate and grabs a cup of water. He brings his breakfast to his room and lays back down into bed. While he is eating, he opens the drawer to his nightstand looking for his remote to his tv, but instead he finds a medal to a tournament he played in when he was younger.

Scene 4 (Flashback) (30 second)

Gabo starts getting sad and starts to think about how good he was when he was younger. Gabo has a flashback of when he was 10, he was dominating his competition scoring a bunch of goals and assists and winning a lot of medals.

Next up we will be talking about our prop list.

Project Proposal

Hi my name is Brennan McCall, and my partner's names are Rafael Moreira and Nick Park. The genre we chose for our short film is sports illustration. We chose this topic because we all love playing and watching sports especially football (soccer). we have a vested interest in this topic because Rafael plays travel soccer and Nick plays for West Broward High School. I play soccer for fun and enjoy the time spent with friends. The potential target audience for our film would be teenagers (any gender) and it would relate to any race. The hobby would focus on the sport of football (soccer).  The location of the story would take place in London, England since they have one of the best soccer leagues in the world.  The central point of the film will be good sportsmanlike conduct, comradery, leadership, and friendship. We plan on filming our video with the camera on our iPhone 15 and we will edit the footage with adobe software. Music will insert music from You-tube. Additional lighting will be provided through a ring light on a tripod. The basic plan for our film is going to a soccer park and acting out the scenes and getting all of our shots. We plan on practicing our film beforehand.

Research on how to create a Table of Content

Hey bloggers welcome back to another blog! Last blog we spoke about how to do opening credits in a short film, I hope you learned a lot. Today we will be talking about how to do the table of contents in a short film. First we need to know what are the table of contents: the table of contents are an organized list of the film sections and each section is labeled by page number. To start your table of contents your first section is scene title, during this section you want to clearly state the name of each scene with a title that reflects the key actions or the plot point. You want to list  the important scenes or put segments of your film in sequential order. Once you have your scenes organized you will give a brief description of each scene- adding a short summary of what is happening in each scene to help you see the flow and identify any issues. Your last section is a timecode which is where you write what time the scene started and what time the scene ended. Hope you have enjoyed this segment of our blog!

Research on how to make your front cover for your short film

What's up blogger! Hope you guys have had a good time since last blog. We explored the topic about how to create your table of contents during our last blog. This blog we will be discussing how to make your front cover for your film. When making your front cover you want to include the main idea and what you want to convey to the audience. There are a couple of different ways to design your front cover. The first way is you can make your cover is by creating a poster. First you decide on a style for the poster. Then you need to choose images that support the main idea and style. Lastly, add text to the poster including the name of the film and the any other important details you would like to mention. The next way you can make your front cover is by making a look-book. A look-book includes technical  information about the film such as  the cost, tax incentives, and equipment. Then you need to include pictures  to support your main ideas and film style's. The last way you can create you front cover is by a press kit. A press kit includes materials needed to promote the film through the media. Within the kit a short synopsis of the film is provided and you have a section that describes the motivation for the film, the process of making it, and challenges you faced. Lastly, you need to include a directors bio, which means a short description about the director and some photos. These are the three different ways you can create your front cover.

Research on Opening credits

Welcome back subscribers if you haven't read  the last blog post on how to take high quality shots make sure to go back to watch and learn. Today we will be doing research on opening credits. An opening credit is a list of of the people and companies included in the production. Opening credits are featured at the beginning of a film.  You can integrate visuals and songs that match up with the films tone and theme. In addition, a captivating font will capture the attention of the audience. Keep the duration nice and short while still providing necessary credits making sure not to forget anyone. There is a certain order you want to follow while creating your opening credits. First, start off with the production company logo and include the production company name and producer. Next, you want to follow up with the film title designed in a eye-catching font. Then, list the key cast members in order of the billing and proceed with important crew members like directors, writers, cinematographers, and editors. Don't forget to give credit to the costume designers and composers of the music.  Finally, list the less important crew members at the end of the credits. It is important to acknowledge all staff members and make them included regardless of their job description. A successful opening credits for a film will inform the viewers of all the dedicated employees that worked hard making a feature film.

Research on how to take high quality shots

Hello viewers, I hoped you learned a lot about how to get good lighting in the last blog. Today we will be doing research on how to take high quality shots. There are many components to getting a high-quality shot. Some components consist of camera angles, framing, lighting, and audio. When trying to get a good shot the camera angle is very important, there are two key points, perspective and movement. The perspective matters because it is the angle which the camera captures the shot, such as mid shot, two shot, and high angle. Movement is also very important because it aids in telling the story. When the camera moves it makes the video more engaging allowing you to reveal new information and emotions- it shifts the viewpoint of the audience without cutting the film. Some examples are panning or tilting. Framing is a huge part when trying to get a quality shot. Framing is important because it consists of composition and shot selection. Composition is how the visual elements are assembled within the frame. Shot selection is also very crucial because it is choosing the finest shot to capture the subject and tell the story. Another key factor to taking quality shots is lighting, which we should know already because we discussed that topic in my last blog. Lighting has two important parts, which are natural light and a lighting kit. Natural light is using natural lighting to create a dynamic look, some examples are silhouettes, backlighting, and dramatic shadow. A lighting kit is a kit that includes lights, reflectors, and diffusers which capture high quality shots. Lastly, one very big part of getting quality shots is audio. Audio is important because it is the sound in the film. Audio includes microphones, monitoring, ambient sound, and windscreen. Microphones are used to secure sound for recording clean audio. Monitoring the microphones are important because it allows the film crew to review and make adjustments of what is being recorded. Some types of microphones are Lavalier and Shotgun microphones. Ambient sounds are used in film to create background noises. They create an environment in the film making it more realistic. These atmosphere noises are waves on a beach, birds, traffic, rain, and any other imaginable sound that comes to your mind. Windscreen is used to block out sounds from microphones. Keep in mind that without these components you can not take high quality shots. Looking forward to our next blog which we will be focusing on opening credits.
